Stanislavsky read the experimental psychologist Théodule-Armand Ribot's "The Psychology Of The Emotions" (which included the concept of Affective Memory) than he transformed the ideas and applied them for acting/directing. In a way Ribot is the original father of Emotional Memory. [Hence, his book's name "The Psychology Of The Emotions"]
We need to have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge about our characters. Knowledge solidifies/shapes the fantasy of them in our minds and allows us to materialize the them in the living world.
